It’s a rare pre-Wimbledon outing for the Serbian – his first in seven years – and he will be eager to get some wins under his belt before the penultimate Grand Slam of the year.

It will be Djokovic’s first tournament since he suffered a heavy defeat to Dominic Thiem at the quarter-final stage of the French Open. “This will be my first trip to Eastbourne and I have heard great things about the tournament,” said the 12-time Grand Slam champion. “I am looking forward to fine-tuning my grass-court game there ahead of Wimbledon.”

Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher, added: “The quality of the men’s and women’s entries is already incredibly high, and the addition of Novak will take the event to an even higher level.”

Djokovic will be joined on the south coast of England by Gael Monfils, John Isner, Feliciano Lopez and Kyle Edmund.
