Of the 191 majors held since the start of the Open era, there have been 54 different major champions. Eleven of those lifted their first major trophy at the Australian Open, most recently Stan Wawrinka in 2014.

Jimmy Connors (1974), Stefan Edberg (1985) and Novak Djokovic (2008) were among those to break their Grand Slam duck Down Under.
